In case you missed me gushing about my love affair with the Rite of Spring shorts a few days ago, I’m here to do it again. Seriously though guys, does it really get any better than polka dot high-waisted shorts? I think not.
This time around I cut the smallest size, an XXS, and I think you’ll agree the fit is spot on. Honestly, I can’t think of an adjustment that would make these any better. Okay, I can think of one: don’t let me go out for burgers in them. I like fries. Lots of them. And they didn’t really want to fit in these puppies with me.
The fabric is some sort of mystery linen-look. I really don’t mind, because it’s cute as can be. Also, it doesn’t wrinkle the second you move like linen does, but it’s really lightweight and breathable, so who cares what it’s made of!
I chose red piping as a bit of a contrast, which you can’t really see too well in these photos. I’m loving that you can see the Manhattan skyline lighting up in the background, but the red is a bit washed out…
This is actually the second time I photographed these. The first time was smack-dab in the middle of a hot summer day and all of my photos came out like this:
But, you can see the piping a bit better in the brighter sun…the things I do for you guys.
I’m also kind of in love with the way these fit sitting down. I know that’s a weird thing to say, but I HATE when I have high-waisted shorts or pants on, and they do a weird wrinkly thing around my crotch/lower stomach. These don’t do that all!

As far as I’m concerned, these are pretty much perfect. They fit without any adjustments on my part, take up less than a yard of fabric, are super easy to embellish, and take up less than a yard of fabric. What more could a girl want? I’m definitely going to be making lots more next summer!
