I didn’t even know that this existed until it popped up on Craftsy this week! I will say I’m pretty excited about it, although I haven’t seen a massive amount of knitters on the train this week.
It seems a bit odd that Knit in Public week is in June, though, doesn’t it? I feel like most people tend to knit more in the cooler weather. All the summer heat doesn’t exactly lend itself to dreams of chunky knit sweaters. Unless, of course, you’re me. I feel like I have some sort of seasonal crafting disorder. All winter all I wanted to do was make sleeveless tops and sundresses. Now that it’s warm, I want to knit, knit, knit.
All that knitting is MUCH slower work than sewing up a quick circle skirt. Hence, the relative silence around these parts. Plus, all this sunshine lends itself more to trips to the beach and the park than sitting inside hunched over my sewing machine.

I’ve been diligently working on the Miette Cardigan in a nice bright red wool from Knit Picks, so I have (inadvertently) been knitting in public lots! The office I work in is generally pretty cold, so I’m trying to resist buying a new sweater to wear over my sundresses by making my own. This is the first time I’m using yarn that wasn’t purchased at a big chain store. I have to say I’m really pleased with it! I was hesitant to “upgrade,” but I feel like the difference in quality is definitely noticeable. Plus, at under $5 a ball it’s really not any more expensive than other yarn I’ve purchased in the past.

Are you participating in Knit in Public Week? Are you working on any knitting at the moment, or do you tend to knit in the cooler weather?
I’d love to see what you’re working on, leave me a link!
