I think I’ve had the busiest year of my life, and it’s finally over! Summer is here, and I’m free and clear. I’ve taken a pretty large leave of absence around these parts, which I didn’t expect (but probably should have). I’ll probably do a separate post about each of these things because they were all pretty huge. Anyway, here’s the shortlist of what I’ve been up to in the last 2 months:
- I GOT MARRIED
I’ll (obviously) do a full post with professional photos later. For now, let’s just say that it was a magical night, everything was perfect, and I really did make sure I ate the food.
2. Went on my honeymoon
We went to Montreal and Quebec City for a week, and it was absolute bliss. Both cities were absolutely amazing. New mission: learn French.
About a month before the wedding, we were informed that we would not have the option to renew our lease at our old place. We were really bummed because we loved the location and didn’t want to move while planning a wedding, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Plus side: our new place is WAY bigger and I finally have a sewing room again. The sewjo has returned, people. Also, I found Diagon Alley.
4. Joined the Cali & Co Bloggers
Basically, I’ll be posting on the Cali & Co Blog as well as here about my makes. I’ll be provided with a fabric allowance from Cali & Co each month in exchange for my posts. As always, I plan to use the yummy fabrics to make pretty things that I actually want to wear. If something doesn’t work out, I’ll be honest. I also don’t plan to double post. I’ll probably give a quick heads-up here when I have a new post up there, but I figure if you want to see what I’m up to there, you’ll go check it out! Posting over there will start in August.
Last time I posted, I was getting ready to go to NOLA for my bachelorette weekend. As always, I had the best time. I love NOLA and can’t wait to go back again!
6. Celebrated when my (now) husband got his Master’s
7. Went to a million and a half dress fittings
My wedding dress was a very fitted, gorgeous, lace gown. Long story short, the lace grew literally every time they altered it. A week before the wedding, it was still not fitting right. I had to go back every.single.day in the days leading up to the wedding. Thankfully, it all worked out the end.
8. Tried on a billion or so bustiers
Let’s be real for a second: can someone PLEASE go into the business of making bridal undergarments for DD+ cups? The options are kind of appalling. I’m currently a 32E/30F UK and I almost cried several times. For some reason, I didn’t think it was going to be as huge of an issue as it was since I know where to find bras that fit. Apparently bridal undergarments are a totally different ballgame. I went with this one in a US 32E, which was technically a cup size too small. Fortunately, it ran large and it worked. It was also really, really, comfortable and invisible under my dress.
9. Ordered a whole bunch of stuff from ModCloth
I’ve obviously not sewn a thing, so I’ve been buying instead. I’ve gotta say, shopping for clothes again has really given me a much better idea of what I actually want to wear, and what fabrics and details I need to make it all work. Weirdly, it’s boosted my sewjo recently and I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of making things again.
10. Had a birthday!
I turned 28 in Quebec City. We had a beautiful dinner at Le Chateau Frontenac and some really cool cocktails. It was really nice to sit back and (finally) relax after all the running around that comes along with wedding planning.
What are you all up to? I feel like I haven’t read a blog in about a year…
Sidenote: is anyone else having issues with BlogLovin? It seems like it’s not updating for all blogs, just for some. Do you use something you like better?
